The Jharkhand Joint Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB) has started the registration process for candidates seeking to pursue Bachelor of Technology (BTech), Bachelor of Engineering (BE) and other engineering courses in the state. Students who have passed the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026 can apply through the official website jceceb.jharkhand.gov.in.According to the official schedule, candidates can complete the registration process before July 2, 2026. The application correction window will open on July 3, allowing applicants to make necessary changes to submitted forms.The board will release the Jharkhand Merit List 2026 on July 5 for admission to engineering courses offered by government, deemed and private universities across the state.
Eligibility criteria
To apply for Jharkhand Engineering Admission 2026, candidates must have passed Class 12 or equivalent exams including Physics and Mathematics and any one of the following subjects:
- Chemical
- computer science
- electronic products
- information technology
- biology
- Informatics Practice
- Biotechnology
- Technical vocational subjects
- agriculture
- Engineering drawing
- business studies
- Entrepreneurship
Candidates should have an overall score of at least 45% in these subjects. For reserved category candidates, the minimum required score is 40%.Students who have passed the Vocational Education Diploma (D.Voc.) in the same or related departments are also eligible.Additionally, applicants must be Indian citizens and local or permanent residents of Jharkhand. Those applying for local residence must submit a valid local resident certificate issued by the competent authority.
Application fee
Candidates belonging to the General, Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Backward Category I (BC-I) and Backward Category II (BC-II) categories need to pay an application fee of Rs 500.Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and women candidates are required to pay Rs 250. Persons with any category of disabilities are exempt from registration fees.Fees can be paid online via debit card, credit card, online banking or Unified Payment Interface (UPI).
National Merit List and Retention Policy
The Jharkhand Merit List 2026 will be prepared based on the JEE Main 2026 scores of the candidates and the information provided in the online application form.The Board has clarified that if a candidate claims a category different from the category mentioned in the JEE Main 2026 application form, the candidate is generally considered as a non-reserved category. However, if there is a discrepancy between the Central and State caste lists, exceptions may be allowed subject to submission of a valid caste certificate.Candidates who have chosen Other Backward Class (OBC) in JEE Main 2026 will be allowed to choose BC-I or BC-II during the state admission process.Admission will be as per the reservation policy currently followed by the Jharkhand Government. Candidates seeking reservation benefits must submit the required caste, disability or income certificate in the prescribed format.
Additional booking benefits
As per the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) guidelines, each branch provides 5% additional seats to qualified candidates in designated categories.Candidates applying under the economically disadvantaged category must provide a valid income certificate issued by the competent authority showing annual family income not exceeding Rs 8 lakh.Students are advised to complete their registration before the July 2 deadline and verify all details carefully to avoid problems during the counseling and admissions process.
