Volkswagen India has confirmed that it will expand the Tayron line-up with a new lower-spec variant, which is scheduled to be launched tomorrow, ie. Jul 10, 2026 Positioned below the existing Tayron R-Line, the upcoming model is expected to offer a more affordable entry point to the three-row SUV range. While Volkswagen is yet to announce the official name of the variant, the teaser video has revealed a few design and equipment details. The Tayron R-Line is currently priced at Rs 46.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The upcoming version could be priced at Rs 42-43 lakh (ex-showroom). When launched, the Tayron will still compete with SUVs such as the Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian.

In terms of design, the new Tayron retains the familiar LED light signature seen on the R-Line. It gets LED projector headlights connected by a light bar, along with an illuminated Volkswagen emblem in the middle. Although the front bumper and grille are not fully shown, it is expected to have a less aggressive design than the R-Line. Another noticeable change is the introduction of a new five-spoke alloy wheel design, which is likely to be smaller than the 19-inch wheels offered on the flagship variant. The teaser also showcases gloss-black wheel arch trims, roof rails, connected LED taillights with illuminated Volkswagen badge and a redesigned rear bumper. Moving inside, the interior layout largely mirrors the look of the R-Line, but with a few visual changes. The teaser reveals two-tone seat covers, replacing the all-black interior theme of the higher-spec model. The SUV still features a standalone touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, wireless phone charging, metal pedals, a panoramic sunroof and three rows of seats. However, Volkswagen is expected to leave out some premium features available on the R-Line to differentiate the two variants.Mechanically, no changes are expected. The new Tayron variant is likely to use the same 2.0-litre turbo-petrol, which produces 204PS (around 201PS) and 320Nm of torque. The engine will continue to be mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, with power sent to all four wheels via Volkswagen’s AWD system.
