The veteran director, who initially announced “Katus” (1999) as his last film as a director, returns after 21 years to direct “Sadak 2” starring his daughters Alia Bhatt and Pooja Bhatt.Vikram Bhatt delves into what prompted this unexpected comeback. “I think that was the promise he made to Mukesh Butt. He once said that he would direct only if he was directed by someone else. He added, “I’ve never spoken to him about it, but my impression is that when the need arises, he will take over.”

While the director’s chair is firmly in his favor, Mahesh Bhatt remains an active force in the industry as a writer and producer. He shared, “He works because he’s a very active person. He has nothing else on his mind and he can work 24 hours a day. Their long creative collaboration has produced horror and thriller films almost exclusively. When asked why they never ventured into lighter areas, Vikram Bhatt was candid. He said, “The Boss, as I call him, is too intense for comedy. I don’t think he thinks comedy. But he has a good sense of humour. He has done some good works like Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke and Duplicate, but his main emotion is neither comedy nor horror.”Vikram also enthusiastically praised Mahesh’s collaborative spirit. He added, “He’s always supportive of my ideas. He doesn’t try to steer my ideas toward his, which is great.”
