Director Craig Gillespie’s superhero film Supergirl premiered in India and performed well at the box office. According to Sacnilk, the film, starring Millie Alcock in the lead, has made an estimated first-day net revenue of Rs 140 crore.
‘Supergirl’ first day box office revenue in India
According to early trade data, the DC Films and Warner Bros. Pictures releases had a total of 2,967 screenings, taking their total revenue in India to Rs 167 crore. The film was released in multiple languages and grossed the most at the box office among its English releases. By language, the English version leads the box office with Rs 105 crore, followed by the Hindi version with Rs 20 lakh. The Tamil version raised Rs 10 lakh, while the Telugu version raised Rs 5 lakh.
Supergirl vs. Welcome to the Jungle
In India, “Supergirl” faces stiff competition from “Welcome to the Jungle” starring Akshay Kumar. The comedy entertainer has already generated momentum through the paid preview show, earning an estimated net revenue of Rs 375 crore (approximately Rs 450 crore in total) ahead of its official release. The Hindi comedy raked in around Rs 15 crore net revenue from 10,892 performances on its first day, taking its cumulative net revenue in India to Rs 1,875 crore and its total India revenue to Rs 2,250 crore.The film collected Rs 650 crore at the overseas box office, taking its global total to Rs 29 crore.
‘Supergirl’ U.S. box office debut tops $13 million
“Supergirl” is also off to a strong start in North America, taking in an estimated $7.8 million from U.S. previews on Thursday and $13 million worldwide on its opening day. As of deadline, the film has now grossed $40 million at the box office.

Supergirl tells the story of Alcock’s Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin who guest-starred in Superman (2025). Starring Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholz, Emily Beacham, David Corenswaite and Jason Momoa, the film is the second theatrical film in the new DC Universe, led by James Gunn and Peter Safran.
