Kunal Kem Hosting a reality show for the first time with The League, in a candid conversation ahead of the show, he drew striking parallels between the on-screen League game and the real-life League games that shaped Bollywood careers. Let’s see what he said.
Kunal Kemmu explains why alliances are vital to human survival
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Kunal Kemmu explains the concept behind ‘The Alliance’ and why it resonates beyond the reality show format. He said: “You are born into a family, you create or choose a family, just like friends become like family. Sometimes family relationships don’t last. Human existence is based on alliances. In the past, if you couldn’t be a hunter or a gatherer, you had to form alliances to survive. “Alliance is what you need to survive,” he said.
Kunal Kemmu admits refugee camps exist in Bollywood
When the topic turned to camp and groupism, which are well-known in Hindi cinema, Keimu didn’t shy away from addressing the issue directly. The actor said, “It exists. It’s not the only way things happen, but it happens in any field. You may feel good or bad, but the truth is it’s always going to be there. It’s human nature. If I like someone and I want to work with them, you can’t make me not work with them. That might be bad for other people, but unfortunately, that’s the way I’m going to go.”
Bollywood talent and business math
In the same conversation, Kunal Kemmu also reflected on how the film industry has evolved but still prioritizes factors other than sheer talent. He shared, “Camp hote the, ab thode kam hain because tab kuch hi family thi jofilms bana rahi thi (There used to be camps. Now it has reduced because only a few families used to make films). Businesses are coming. But even today, business is not always determined by talent. This is determined by some math, which doesn’t make any sense. “He further added, “That’s why we started making projects instead of movies. Fortunately, time teaches everything. Now people don’t watch movies anymore. They tell us they want content, not projects.”
