I was a nerd trying to get into an MBA college, be it IIM or Wharton. IIM was even a better option,” Showik said while appearing with Rhea. Nehadupia and Angad BediTalk show “Double Date”. Showik recalls that life soon took an unexpected turn, derailing the future he had planned for himself. “Then everything goes bad. No one can predict these things. Life takes you by complete surprise,” he added.Speaking of the long road to recovery, Showick revealed that it took the family several years to begin rebuilding their lives. “There was a stage where things were really bad, but they got over it. It took us about four to five years. Even now, sometimes you think, ‘This is happening to me.'”The lingering effects of that period are still very real, he said. Showik said he continues to experience symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), where certain everyday situations trigger painful memories. “I still suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder. Sometimes, random doorbells ring and it brings back flashbacks. It was very chaotic and every doorbell made us feel like someone was chasing us,” he shared.During the conversation, Neha Dhupia asked Rhea if she has gotten over her trauma. The actor candidly responded that some experiences never truly leave a person. “It’s not something you can really overcome. This is trauma. It stays in your body, if not in your mind. “Rhea explains that healing is not a one-time event but an ongoing process that requires ongoing effort and self-awareness.“As Showick said, there’s post-traumatic stress disorder. You go to therapy and deal with it.”The siblings’ conversations offer a rare glimpse into the personal struggles they faced outside the public eye, and how years of therapy, resilience and support helped them get through a period that fundamentally changed their lives.
