New Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) president Javid Ahmed Kitab has been suspended with immediate effect, with the association’s Apex Council unanimously passing a resolution in support of the move.The decision was finalized on June 25 and passed by an 8-0 majority vote. According to the notification, the resolution has been circulated among the eligible Supreme Council members in accordance with Article 23(i) of the JKCA Constitution. The resolution was not sent to Kitab since the matter involved the conduct and suspension of the president. Instead, it was distributed among the nine remaining Supreme Council members. Eight members voted in favor of the resolution, while one member did not convey the decision.“Consequently, in accordance with the provisions of Article 23(i) and Article 48(6) of the JKCA Constitution, the resolution was duly adopted by a majority of 8:0,” the notification said.The statement further stated, “In pursuance of the above resolution, Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association President Javed Ahmed Kitab has been suspended with immediate effect.”The notification also stated that the resolution will have the same force and effect as a resolution passed at a duly convened meeting of the Supreme Council. It will be submitted to the council for approval at its next meeting, as required by the constitution.The JKCA also directed all officers, employees, affiliated units and other staff of the association to “immediately take all appropriate measures to implement the resolution in accordance with the Association’s Articles of Association”.
