India Yamaha Motor has entered the flex-fuel motorcycle segment with the launch of the FZ Blue Flex at a starting price of Rs 1,24,240, ex-showroom. The new motorcycle is designed to run on ethanol mixed fuels ranging from E20 to E85.The FZ Blue Flex is based on Yamaha’s popular FZ platform and uses a 149cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine that has been updated to support higher ethanol blends. The engine produces 11.3 hp and 12.8 Nm of maximum torque and is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Yamaha says the bike is designed to run on different ethanol blends without affecting everyday use.In terms of design, the FZ Blue Flex retains the familiar styling of the FZ range. It features full-LED projector headlamps with integrated position lights, a sculpted fuel tank with aerodynamic bodywork, a compact exhaust system, a sharp LED tail lamp and a one-piece seat. The motorcycle is available in metallic black.The hardware package remains largely unchanged. Suspension duties are performed by telescopic front forks and rear mono shock absorber, while braking is assisted by single-channel ABS. The bike also comes with an LCD instrument panel, though it doesn’t offer features like Bluetooth connectivity, navigation or traction control.The Yamaha FZ Blue Flex will be sold through select Blue Square dealerships in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana and Tamil Nadu.
