Congress now wants to expand this conversation beyond personal disputes and turn it into a debate about the education system itself.On June 25, the party will launch a nationwide campaign called ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ (Students Echo) and plans to hold press conferences in 28 cities. this indian national congress party said the initiative aims to push for major education reforms and hold the center accountable for its record in the field.
Congress seeks education minister’s resignation
All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary KC Venugopal issued a statement demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.The Congress claimed that the BJP-led government had pursued policies of privatization, centralization and “Sanghification” of education in the past twelve years.The party said “the crisis facing the country is not just an unemployment crisis but an employability crisis” and argued students were not adequately prepared for the challenges ahead.
Plans to hold press conferences in 28 cities
The campaign will be conducted through simultaneous press conferences in the cities of Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Nagpur, Patna, Pune, Ranchi, Srinagar, Thiruvanant, Vijayawarat, Allahabad and Patna.Senior leaders such as Pawan Khera, Rajeev Shukla, Priyank Kharge, Gaurav Gogoi, Supriya Shrinate, Kanhaiya Kumar, Imran Pratapgarhi and Srinivas BV are expected to lead the outreach efforts in different districts.
Education is at the center of the movement
Congress said the press conference would mark the start of a wider national discussion about the need for what it calls a modern, inclusive and future-proof education system.The party invited students, teachers, parents and citizens to participate in the dialogue.(Institutional investment)
