Elon Muskon social media platforms, X: (formerly Twitter), has: prohibited at 5 lakh account: in India. Reuters reported that these accounts were banned for violating several policies set by the social media site and that these accounts were banned between January 26 and February 25.
All of X’s accounts were banned in February
According to the report, the social networking site has banned 5,06,173 accounts that promote child pornography and inappropriate genitalia. In addition to this, the platform suspended 1,982 accounts for promoting terrorism.
In total, X has suspended a total of 5,08,155 accounts during the reported period in India. Also the platform has received about 14,421 complaints from Indian users through its complaint handling mechanism. In addition, 41 requests have been made regarding account suspension.
The company was cited in “We overturned 1 of the account suspensions after reviewing the situation. The remaining accounts reported are suspended,” the company said.
“We received 71 requests related to account inquiries during this period,” it added.
This is not a new practice for X to ban accounts for violating the rules. Between December 26 and January 25, the platform banned about 2.31, 215 accounts in India. At the same time, the company banned 1,945 accounts for promoting terrorism on its platform.
