Toyota India recently launched the new electric SUV Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella in the Indian market. And now deliveries of the electric SUV have begun. Based on the Suzuki e-Vitari, the Ebella EV shares most of its core components with its Maruti counterpart. The reveal marks a key milestone for Toyota, marking its entry into India’s mass-market EV segment with a mid-size electric SUV that will take on rivals such as the Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara.Toyota has priced the range-topping Ebella E3 at Rs 23.60 lakh (ex-showroom). Under the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) scheme, it is offered at a starting vehicle price of Rs 15.25 lakh, with battery usage at Rs 4.99 per km. Ebella is offered in three variants: E1, E2 and E3. The range-topping E3 is Rs 3.60 lakh more than the corresponding Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara variant, which is priced at Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). Toyota has yet to announce pricing for the E1 and E2 trims.Urban Cruiser Ebella is available in two battery pack options – 49kWh or 61kWh batteries. The 49kWh battery comes paired with a single motor mounted on the front axle, which delivers 144hp. The larger 61kWh battery is also single-engined, but here it makes 174hp. Both engines produce an identical torque of 189 Nm. Speaking of range, the EV has a claimed range of 440km with a 49kWh battery, while the larger 61kWh version is rated at 543km on a single charge.In terms of features, the EV gets a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch infotainment screen that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cloud-based navigation, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting with 12 color options and ventilated front seats. In addition, it gets features like wireless charging, JBL sound system, automatic climate control, more USB ports and a cabin air purifier. In terms of safety, the model gets seven airbags as standard, ABS, EBD, ESP, 360-degree camera and ADAS level 2 features like lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, cross traffic alert and more.Image source: Capital Toyota/Instagram
