Mini India has finally launched the Indian-made Mini Countryman C in the Indian market today. The new Mini Countryman C will be produced locally at BMW Group’s Chennai plant and is priced at Rs 47.5 crore (ex-showroom). Reservations are already underway; Interested buyers can reserve the car exclusively through the Mini showroom, and deliveries will begin soon. The new Mini Countryman C will rival the BMW X1, Audi Q3, Mercedes-Benz GLA and other similarly priced luxury SUVs.Talking about the engine first, the new Mini Countryman C is powered by a 1.5-liter, 3-cylinder, turbo engine with 156hp and 240Nm. It comes mated to a 7-speed DCT transmission and sends power to the front wheels. The same engine also does the job in the BMW X1, but here the engine is tuned to produce more power. The Mini Countryman C can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 9.0 seconds and has a top speed of 212 km/h. It is equipped with a 60 liter fuel tank and delivers a claimed fuel efficiency of 15.92 kpl. The MINI Countryman is built on the front-wheel drive UKL2 platform, which it shares with the BMW X1, which is also assembled in India.In terms of design, the Mini Countryman C follows the design cues of the JCW and electric versions in terms of overall design elements such as the design of the headlights, taillights and wheel design. At the front, it features circular headlights paired with a square grille, along with an upright nose and revised bumper, giving it a stronger look than the earlier models.

In profile, the design moves towards a boxy silhouette, with a flat roofline, upright stance and squared-off wheel arches. The longer wheelbase contributes to improved proportions and interior space. The rear remains simple, with LED taillights with a modern light signature, a clean tailgate design and minimal detailing.Moving inside, it has a revised cabin look with a focus on a cleaner and more contemporary design while retaining key brand elements. Features include a 9.4-inch circular OLED touchscreen, head-up display, steering wheel controls, 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, 360-degree camera, panoramic glass roof, power front seats, wireless phone charging and park assist. The driver’s seat also has a massage function.Rear seat passengers benefit from sliding seats with up to 130mm of adjustment and a tilt function of up to 25 degrees. The boot capacity is 505 liters and increases to 1,450 liters with the rear seats folded down. The SUV also offers connected car technology, ambient lighting, MINI Digital Key Plus and eight MINI Experience driving modes. Its safety package includes ADAS functions such as forward collision warning, lane departure warning, attention assist, active pedestrian protection and reverse assist. The Countryman C received five stars for Euro NCAP safety.
