India’s young left-arm spinner Sri Charani has performed well in the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup and emerged as the world’s number one bowler in Women’s T20Is. The 21-year-old has taken 10 wickets in just three matches to climb to the top of the ICC rankings, making her the biggest wicket-taker in the tournament so far.Charani’s rise is one of the World Cup’s biggest success stories. She made her international debut just over a year ago and has quickly become a key member of the Indian bowling community. Her recent performances against Netherlands and South Africa have helped her overtake England spinner Linsey Smith at the top of the list.The Indian spinner’s biggest contribution came in consecutive matches. She picked up four wickets against the Netherlands in Leeds, followed by another three wickets against South Africa in Manchester. These winning performances earned her enough ranking points to become the highest-ranked bowler in women’s T20I cricket.While Charani moved up to No. 1, England’s Charlie Dean moved up to No. 2 after taking five wickets in each of his first three World Cup games. Former No. 1 pitcher Sophie Ecclestone also improved, moving up to No. 4.The batting rankings have largely remained at the top, with Australia’s Georgia Wall retaining the number one spot.
