Veteran actor Rajesh Sharma’s sudden illness has caught the attention of the film industry. According to reports, the actor suffered a medical incident while shooting for Prabhas’ upcoming Hanu Raghavapudi-directed film Fauji at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad and traveled to Kolkata for treatment. Medical staff are monitoring him closely, and his condition has sparked new discussions about workplace safety and emergency medical response on film sets.
AICWA demands high-level probe into Rajesh Sharma’s medical emergency
The All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has demanded an immediate, transparent and high-level investigation into the incident. The association has also sought the intervention of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to probe in detail the circumstances that led to the deterioration of the actor’s health, IANS reported. AICWA questioned whether there were proper emergency medical facilities on the sets and why the actor was not shifted to a major hospital in Hyderabad if his condition became critical during the shoot. The association also wants authorities to check whether production teams adhere to mandatory safety, hygiene and medical protocols.
Association seeks accountability and complete medical support
AICWA said the film industry has a legal and ethical responsibility to provide a safe working environment for artists, technicians and crew. The association said issues related to personal hygiene, sanitation and emergency medical care repeatedly arose at multiple shooting locations. It also claimed that many workers were reluctant to speak publicly about such issues for fear of losing their jobs. If any negligence is proven, AICWA has sought accountability and asked the producers of ‘Fauji’ to bear the entire cost of Rajesh Sharma’s treatment and ensure that he gets the best treatment until he fully recovers.
