Nissan teases Tekton SUV ahead of July 9 debut: calls it 'Baby Patrol'

Nissan India has confirmed that the Tekton SUV will make its global debut on July 9, 2026 and released a teaser showing new design details. The teaser also describes the upcoming Tekton as ‘Baby Patrol’, hinting at its strong design ties to the brand’s flagship SUV. The Tekton is expected to carry over several styling cues inspired by the Patrol, including the grille, headlights and other exterior details. The upcoming model shares its platform with the new Renault Duster and will be manufactured at Renault’s Tamil Nadu facility.

The Nissan Tekton has been teased

In terms of design, the upcoming SUV will have a wide front fascia with a red horizontal stripe running across it and an illuminated Nissan logo in the middle. The SUV also gets a full-width LED DRL signature linked to the headlamp units, which include L-shaped light elements. Other exterior features include a sculpted hood with prominent character lines, a center hood and Tekton badging. At the rear, the SUV will have a roof spoiler, a protruding windshield, connected C-shaped taillights and a large bumper. The SUV is expected to be similar in dimensions to the new Renault Duster, which measures 4,345 mm in length, 1,815 mm in width, 1,703 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,657 mm.Tekton is expected to share its engine options with the new Duster. 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine with 100 PS of power and 160 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The second engine is a 1.3-liter, 4-cylinder, turbo petrol with 163 hp and 280 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed DCT or 6-speed manual. There’s also a larger 1.8-litre powerful 109bhp hybrid petrol engine paired with a 49bhp electric motor and 20bhp Hybrid Starter Generator (HSG), paired with a 1.4kWh (280V) battery. Together, this configuration delivers a combined system output of 160 PS and 172 Nm.Expected features include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charger, dual-zone climate control, power tailgate, power front seats with 6-way ventilation, 48-color lighting, multi-button start/stop, push-button start/stop. more.The new Nissan Tekton will be a key product for Nissan India. It is expected to be priced between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV will compete with the likes of Renault Duster, Tata Sierra, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyrider and others.
