O’Rourke removed left-hander Jacob Bethel after he looked poised for a bigger run. Their combined efforts ensured England could not erase New Zealand’s first-innings advantage. Instead, the visitors built an 84-run lead, very similar to the 100-run advantage they had achieved at the Oval, before winning the Test match by 253 runs.
