India A vs Sri Lanka A Unofficial Test: Dhruv Jurel and Shaik Rasheed occupy key positions India A strive to capture the total on Day 2

IND A and SL A: India A will resume the second day of the first unofficial Test against Sri Lanka A at 333/4 at the Galle International Stadium. The visitors dominated the first day, powered by Sai Sudharsan’s superb century, and will look to build a huge total in the first innings and tighten their grip on the game.

First day review

India A ended the first day with a score of 333/4 in the 86th over, with Sai Sudharsan hitting a classic century to lay the foundation for total dominance. Having done their job in the top order, captain Dhruv Jurel (57)* and Shaik Rasheed (48)* bowled out the hosts with an unbeaten partnership of 98, ensuring India A had a firm grip on the match.

For Sri Lanka A, left-arm spinner Dilum Sudeera got the first breakthrough by dismissing opener Ayush Pandey (25), but the hosts struggled to make further progress as India’s midfield order showed discipline and composure.

Outlook for the next day

India A will aim to capitalize on their strong position to extend Jurel Rashid’s partnership to over 100 in the morning session. With plenty of batting opportunities left, the visitors are hoping for a first-innings total of over 500 before launching their bowling attack.

Sri Lanka A, meanwhile, desperately needed to take wickets early to prevent India A from scoring an impressive score. The first hour with the relatively new ball could be crucial if the home side wants to get back into the game.

Promotion report

The surface at the Galle International Stadium is expected to remain batting-friendly in the second day’s opening match, providing good pace and dribbling. However, as the game progresses and the footprints become more apparent, the pitch may help the spinners with increased turn and variable bounce, making the batting increasingly challenging later in the game.
