India and Indonesia on Tuesday signed a series of agreements aimed at expanding cooperation in technology, education, startups and space research, with one major announcement being the establishment of the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM Bangalore) campus in Indonesia.The agreements were announced after talks between the prime ministers Modi The Prime Minister met with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto during an official visit to Jakarta. Both parties stated that the cooperative relationship will focus on emerging technologies while creating more opportunities for young people from both countries.
Focus on artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure and startups
Prime Minister Modi said at a joint press conference with President Prabowo that the two countries hope to enhance their demographic advantages by expanding technological cooperation.“We will also share best practices in permaculture and agricultural technology. One of the announcements made during the visit was the decision to establish the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore campus in Indonesia.The prime minister said the campus will not only benefit students in Indonesia but will also serve learners in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region.He said: “We will establish a branch of IIM Bangalore, a famous Indian management school, in Indonesia; this will greatly benefit young people throughout the ASEAN region.”The move comes as India continues to expand the international reach of its higher education institutions while strengthening educational partnerships with Southeast Asian countries.
Space cooperation expands
India and Indonesia also agreed to deepen cooperation in the aerospace field.Highlighting the long-standing partnership between the two countries, Prime Minister Modi said the latest agreement includes joint research, technology sharing and capacity building.“We also have a decades-long trusted partnership in space. Welcome ceremony in Jakarta
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi received a grand welcome in Jakarta as he began his three-country tour of Indonesia.Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto welcomed the Prime Minister with an honor guard, horseback escort and traditional cultural performances. The leaders of the two countries hugged and greeted each other before holding delegation-level talks.
Visit as part of wider Indo-Pacific outreach
