‘Avengers: Endgame’ re-release: ‘Avengers: Endgame’ will be re-released as ‘Avengers: Endgame Encore’; to feature ‘Armageddon’-related footage |

As the release of Avengers: Endgame approaches, Marvel Studios has officially announced plans to bring one of its biggest blockbusters, Avengers: Endgame, back to theaters.

‘Avengers: Endgame’ to be re-released with new title

After teasing a re-release last year and officially confirming plans to bring the film back to the big screen during CinemaCon 2026, “Endgame” will be officially re-released in September this year, renamed “Avengers: Endgame Encore.” According to Deadline, the film will not only be released with an updated title, but will also feature additional footage and a new post-credits scene that is said to tie the film to the next chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Avengers: Doomsday. While the new title is just a minor change, its release is more than just a standard theatrical re-release. Marvel is reportedly presenting it as a theatrical event meant to help set up the storyline for the next two movies, concluding the multiverse saga.

The connection between Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Armageddon

However, it’s unclear how the re-release will connect the events of Endgame and Armageddon, considering the Marvel Cinematic Universe has grown significantly in the seven years between the two films’ releases. Many of the characters confirmed for “Doomsday,” including members of the Thunderbolts, the Fantastic Four, and returning characters from Fox’s “X-Men” universe, are not involved in the events of “Endgame.”However, heroes expected to appear in Doomsday such as Steve Rogers (aka Captain America), Thor, Ant-Man, Sam Wilson, Bucky Barnes, M’Baku and Shuri played key roles in defeating Thanos in Endgame.

‘Avengers: Endgame’ reveals motivations behind The Rage of Doctor Doom

The re-release could also revisit the aftermath of the Avengers’ time-travel missions and multiverse saga. The Avengers: Endgame Encore may offer viewers a new look at how the Avengers eliminated Thanos’ snap, ultimately leading to a multiverse crisis, which is expected to serve as the motivation behind Doctor Doom’s rampage across the timeline and multiverse. The report also noted that the film will be screened in theaters with Disney Infinity Vision certification, which tests whether the lab meets specific standards for screen size, sound quality and projection performance.“Armageddon” is scheduled to be released on December 18.
