tension between Arya Babar After Arya’s stand-up comedy clip went viral, his half-brother Prateik Smita Patil is once again in the spotlight. In the film, Arya refers to her genitals as “chota bhai” (younger brother) while discussing depression. Then he quipped: “By chota bhai I don’t mean Prateik Babbar.”The audience laughed and Arya immediately corrected herself and said, “Pratek Smita Patil,” eliciting applause. Then he added, “Kya ho raha hai Smita maa. “The actor later shared the video on social media with the caption, “No names were changed while making this joke,” seemingly referring to Prateik’s decision to take the surname of his late mother Smita Patil.
“I realized he changed his name”
Clarifying the context behind the remark, Arya insisted that he had no intention of mocking his brother.“I talk about chota bhai from a hypochondriac perspective and currently, I just say chota bhai does not mean Prateik Babbar. As soon as I said it, I realized that he had changed his name and he was sensitive about it and he didn’t want to be called Prateik Babbar. So, I just corrected myself,” Arya explained in an interview with Hindustan Times. He added, “The whole world knows that I will not use Smita Maa’s name without adding maa, that’s why I am saying this. For me, it is not a joke. I am just stating a fact and the audience finds humor in it.”
“I answer the phone kar le, main baat kar lunga”
When asked if she is open to mending ties with Prateik, Arya said he is still open to dialogue.“My call answer kar le, main baat karunga. Usne ye media choice kiya hai ki main apni family se seethe nahin, media ke pass baat karunga, to hamare paas bhi koi choose nahin bachta,” he said. Arya also takes issue with the perception that his family is often portrayed negatively.“What I don’t agree with is that the first family of Babar Sahab cannot be villains. Why are you being victimized and we are called villains. We have not said anything to you, we accept and respect you, so why are we villains?” he asked.
