‘The Odyssey’ Day 7 Box Office Revenue
On Day 7, Sacnilk’s box office report revealed that the film earned an estimated net revenue of Rs 615 crore from 11,111 screenings. The latest data shows that box office collections have declined slightly by 5.4% since its sixth day of release, when the film earned a net revenue of Rs 650 crore.The English version of the film continued to dominate the box office sales, contributing around Rs 5 crore on day 7. The Hindi, Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions added a total of an estimated Rs 11.5 crore. With its first week performance, the epic film is currently expected to collect Rs 903 million at the Indian box office, taking the total to Rs 107.72 million.

With its current ratings, the film has entered the top 15 highest-grossing Hollywood films of all time in India. Now, it has set its sights on Christopher Nolan’s own Oppenheimer, which earned a lifetime collection of Rs 12,846 crore during its 2023 release and is currently ranked 10th on the all-time list.

The upcoming weekend is expected to give the film another boost, further strengthening its box office totals. The superhero movie starring Tom Holland has generated huge buzz ahead of its release, with exhibitors and industry analysts reporting unusually strong pre-sale demand across the country.According to early trade forecasts, Spider-Man: New Day is expected to gross a staggering Rs 500-600 million on its first day in India, making it one of the highest-grossing openings ever for a Hollywood film. If the film meets these expectations, it will rival Avengers: Endgame, which still holds the record for the highest-grossing Indian debut for a non-Indian film, with an estimated revenue of Rs 65 crore and a total of Rs 373.22 crore in the country. The film’s box office is second only to “Avatar: Water Path”, which collected Rs 378.22 Cr during its release in India.
Christopher Nolan Says ‘The Odyssey’ Is ‘The Origin of Superhero Stories’
Filmmaker Christopher Nolan has described his upcoming film “The Odyssey” as being rooted in the origins of superhero storytelling, likening the ancient Greek epic to a modern comic book series. During an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Nolan discussed Homer’s influence and compared it to the contemporary cinematic universe.“Even comic book culture, whether you’re talking about Marvel or DC or every other culture, a lot of it comes directly from Homer,” Nolan said. He added, “The thing about Homer is that no one knows that was a person. In a way, Homer was the George Lucas of his time.”He added, “The thing about Homer, it’s a wonder of that time. We have a very immediate desire to feel or believe that God can walk among us, and I think modern comic books are our expression of that.”Nolan also praised actor Tom Holland, who plays Telemachus in the film. “He’s amazing. I haven’t worked with him before, but I’d love to work with him again. I mean, he’s an unbelievable talent. He’s just amazing,” he said.The director further spoke about reuniting with actress Anne Hathaway, who plays Penelope in the film. Speaking about his latest project, The Devil Wears Prada 2, Nolan said: “I saw it last night. It was amazing. And Emily Blunt. It was amazing.”
