India vs Zimbabwe live score, 1st T20I: Shreyas Iyer chases first win as captain

India vs Zimbabwe Live Score, 1st T20I: India’s young T20I side will put their recent disappointment behind them when they take on Zimbabwe in the first of a three-match series at Harare Sports Club on Thursday.

Captain Shreyas Iyer will be under pressure after a tough start as T20I captain. India have managed just one win in their first seven games as captain, making this series an important opportunity for the young squad to regain confidence and build momentum.

Laxman returns as bench coach

VVS Laxman also returns as stand-in head coach in the series in the absence of Gautam Gambhir.

Laxman’s team selection and approach will be closely watched, especially with several spots in the starting XI yet to be decided.

Spotlight on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

One of the biggest talking points will be teenage opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who is expected to open the batting alongside Abhishek Sharma.

Both batsmen have fond memories of Harare Sports Club. Abhishek scored his first T20I hundred at the venue, while Vaibhav hit a hundred in the Under-19 World Cup final earlier this year.

Pace-friendly pitch challenges hitters

The Harare pitch is expected to help the fast bowlers with pace and bounce.

Zimbabwe will rely on experienced pacers Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarawa to challenge India’s top order. After recent batting struggles, India need a better start with the new ball.

Mid-order combination in focus

India still have some middle-order selection questions to answer.

Vice-captain Tilak Varma is yet to consolidate his spot at number five, while Ishan Kishan has been prioritized at number three. Rinku Singh is expected to continue in the finisher’s role.

The team management will also have to select all-rounders from Harsh Dubey, Shivam Dube and Suryansh Shedge.

Rhythm offense has begun to take shape

The fast bowling attack is likely to feature Prince Yadav and the returning Mayank Yadav.

Ashok Sharma and Yash Thakur are vying for the remaining bowling spots.

Zimbabwe prepares for challenge

Zimbabwe are confident of making the most of their home conditions and will look to test India’s inexperienced side from the start.
