The India skipper believed his team achieved victory on a challenging pitch that had uneven bounce.“I thought it was a phenomenal score on this court, with variable bounce. We were leading the game for the first 15 possessions, but then all of a sudden – it was all thanks to the way Jacob played,” he added.Iyer credited Jacob Bethel with his aggressive batting for changing the course of the chase. He also believed England had assessed the situation before attacking.“They analyzed the ground and wicket dimensions very early on,” he said.The India captain had special praise for the young England batsman’s fearless mentality.“He has a fearless determination. The way he hits the ball into the net…it’s worth learning from him. I didn’t expect him to be nervous.”Despite the disappointment of the defeat, Iyer said the team will move forward quickly and focus on the third T20I.“Of course I’m always in high spirits and I know this is as low as you can get,” he concluded.The third T20I of the five-match series will be played on July 7 at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.
