Teenager star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi wrote history on Saturday when he became the youngest player to represent India in a men’s T20I in the second T20I against England at Manchester’s Old Trafford. The 15-year-old achieved a memorable milestone in Indian cricket by surpassing the previous record held by Sachin Tendulkar. Although his stay at the crease was brief, Sooryavanshi gave fans a glimpse of his fearless batting prowess, scoring 14 runs in just 10 deliveries. The youngster opened the innings with Abhishek Sharma and announced his performance in stunning fashion after India elected to bat first. His first international appearance was against England pacer and his Rajasthan Royals teammate Jofra Archer. Dropping back to create space, Sooryavanshi collected a short ball and lifted it cleanly over the wicketkeeper for a stunning six.He hit another top-scoring over in the very next over, hitting Josh Tongue deep inside Midwicket with a powerful drag, underscoring his aggressive intentions that have established him as one of India’s brightest young players. However, England fought back in the fifth innings. Will Jacks beat the teenager with a flatter delivery outside off stump and Sooryavanshi charged down the track looking for attack. Beaten at the turn, he missed a chance to try and cut before Jos Buttler completed a sharp stump to end the debutant’s innings.
