“I came as a pilgrim, not a tourist”

Looking back on the visit, Gibson said he came to India not for sightseeing but to embark on a journey of self-discovery and inner peace.Drawing an analogy to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s historic visit to India in 1959, Gibson wrote: “In 1959, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. came to India as a pilgrim, not a tourist. He came to study the life and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi, whose philosophy of nonviolent resistance forever shaped the civil rights movement. Dr. King later said that Jesus showed him the spirit of love, but Gandhi showed him the method. That journey changed history. The actor said his own travels were mostly about learning to meditate and cultivate peace.“I have always wanted to learn how to practice calmness through meditation, calm the irritable thoughts that sometimes bring anxiety, and pursue true peace of mind, body, and spirit. This is a lifelong journey,” he writes.

Calls India experience ‘truly life-changing’

Gibson also thanked the AMA for the warmth and hospitality he received during his stay, calling the experience transformative.“Thank you to the American Medical Association for welcoming me so warmly. I am deeply grateful and honored. This experience was not only temporary but truly life-changing. I sincerely believe that this brother will one day receive the Nobel Peace Prize for his outstanding work in rescuing and protecting animals. Blessings upon blessings,” he wrote.

Talking about traveling with childhood friends

The actor revealed that the visit held special significance as he was accompanied by his childhood friend Kenyatta, with whom he has a lifelong friendship.“What made this trip even more meaningful was that I came to India with my childhood friend Kenyatta… Kenyatta and I have been best friends since we were eight years old. He fed me, protected me, and his parents, the Snowdens, opened their home to me and were there for me through the toughest times of my childhood and teenage years,” Gibson shared.Reflecting on gratitude and lasting friendships, he added, “Life has taught me something simple: When you are truly grateful, you find ways every day to repay those who stood by you when you had nothing.”He is also grateful to his friend and mentor Prabhav Sharma for his guidance.“Thank you my brother @prabs. 12. Your never-ending genius, wisdom, guidance, and the extraordinary circle you occupy will continue to bless everyone who comes in contact with you,” he wrote.Gibson concluded his heartfelt post by suggesting that the trip to India marked the beginning of a larger personal and creative journey.“We are praying for our purpose, our impact, and what I believe will be a culture-shifting, inspiring moment. There will be more to come,” he wrote.
