former pakistan fast bowler Muhammad Amir After gaining British citizenship, he started a new phase of his career as a domestic player joining Notts Outlaws for the remainder of the T20 Blast 2026 season.Aamir recently obtained a British passport through his wife Narjis Khan’s British citizenship. As a result, he will no longer be considered an overseas player in county cricket, giving Nottinghamshire greater flexibility in team selection and providing Amir with further opportunities in English domestic cricket.Nottinghamshire are currently second in the North Group after six games and Amir is expected to feature in Friday’s T20 Blast match against Kent as the side look to strengthen their push for the knockout stages.Although Amir has previously represented Derby County, Gloucestershire and Essex County, this will be his first time representing the county as a local player. His domestic status means Notts can field two overseas players – South African all-rounder George Linde and Pakistani fast bowler Muhammad Ali – to play alongside him.Amir said after joining the club: “I’m delighted to be joining Notts. I’ve heard a lot of good things about this club and I’m looking forward to it. I have many, many memories at Trent Bridge and I know T20s are all about entertaining people, so I will try my best to do well for this team and make the fans happy. The team has played really well in the last three games and I will try to keep that momentum going throughout the tournament.“Nottinghamshire also confirmed Amir’s status in an official statement, saying that as a “British passport holder, Amir will not be treated as an overseas player during his stay at Trent Bridge, which includes any potential knockout matches that Notts may feature in.”Aamir last represented Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup. During his international career, he won the 2009 T20 World Cup and the 2017 Champions Trophy with Pakistan.In T20 cricket, Aamir took 425 wickets in 364 games with an average of 22.63 and an economy rate of 7.36.
