One of the biggest reasons why New Zealand is in trouble is their inability to take wickets consistently. Their bowlers have picked up just 9 wickets in the tournament so far, the fewest among all 12 teams.
In comparison, England’s attack claimed 25 wickets.
The lack of breakthroughs prevented New Zealand from taking control of the game, even when the overall score was competitive. Their batting didn’t quite work either, with no player scoring more than 45 runs and the team not scoring more than 162 runs.
Moving away from Southampton, where they played their first three games, could bring a welcome change of scenery.
