As ‘Jana Nayagan’ finally hits theaters, ‘Bandar’ actor bobby del Opened up about his experience of sharing screen space with Vijay. The film marked a major milestone in Vijay’s career as it was widely considered to be his last outing as an actor before he fully focused on his political duties as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.In a recent interview, Bobby opened up about Vijay’s personality. Despite the Tamil superstar’s popularity, Bobby said it was Vijay’s calm and down-to-earth nature that impressed him the most. According to the actor, his co-star preferred to keep a low profile and remained conservative throughout the shoot. “He’s a very simple guy. Very quiet, very much a loner,” Bobby said of Vijay in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, adding that it’s remarkable to see someone with such huge stardom still be so humble and reserved.

Bobby Deol feels Vijay’s popularity affected the filming process

Bobby also spoke about the practical challenges of shooting with one of the biggest stars of the Tamil film industry. He revealed that a considerable portion of “Jana Nayagan” was shot in purpose-built sets instead of public places as Vijay’s presence would attract a large number of viewers. “It’s a fact. If you took him out on the streets, there wouldn’t be any work. He’s so big,” Bobby said while explaining the situation. He also revealed that language sometimes became a challenge while filming due to his unfamiliarity with Tamil. However, Bobby said director H. Vinoth ensured that communication remained smooth by explaining scenes and discussions when needed. So, despite the language barrier, the shoot went off without a hitch.

Rethinking fan culture in South Indian cinema

Bobby, who has previously worked in the Telugu film industry with Daaku Maharaaj, said he has witnessed first-hand the extraordinary love South Indian audiences have for their favorite stars. According to him, the connection between actors and fans is unlike anything he has experienced elsewhere. Talking about the local film industry, he said, “People there adore actors.” He further added, “It’s surprising how united they are towards the film industry.Recalling his experience during the Celebrity Cricket League, Bobby remembers seeing the stadium packed with fans who came in buses to cheer on their favorite actors, including Mohanlal. He believes this collective support highlights the strong emotional connection between audiences and South Indian cinema.

Share an unforgettable conversation with Vijay

Bobby also recalled a brief interaction he had with Vijay during the making of “Jana Nayagan”. Although the two actors didn’t spend much time together, there was one conversation that stuck with him. He shared, “One day he told me that he had remade one of my films. I think it was Villu.”

Vijay attends private screening before release

Just hours before the release of Jana Nayagan, Vijay reportedly watched the film at a special screening held at the Adyar Tagore Film Center in Chennai. Members of the Tamil Nadu Secretariat, senior government officials and police personnel reportedly attended the private show along with the Chief Minister. “Jana Nayagan” is directed by H. Vinoth and stars Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Narain and Bobby Deol.
