He said the measure would encourage athletes across the state to train harder.Mukesh received his appointment letter bihar Patna Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhry. Indian pacer Akash Deep has also been appointed as DSP under the same sports recruitment scheme.After the ceremony, Mukesh welcomed the policy and said it would inspire young athletes to pursue their sports careers.“I and all Biharis are very happy about this. This will encourage all athletes who are training hard. Work hard and stay positive,” news agency ANI quoted him as saying.The 32-year-old right-arm fast bowler from Gopalganj has represented India in all three formats of international cricket. He also plays for Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Bangladesh in the domestic cricket league.Mukesh made his Test, ODI and T20I debuts during India’s 2023 tour of the West Indies, becoming one of the few Indian cricketers to complete all three formats of the game in a span of two weeks.He is also an important part of Delhi Capitals’ pace attack. Mukesh was purchased for Rs 550 crore ahead of IPL 2023 and became the team’s joint-highest wicket-taker with 17 wickets in the 2024 season. Delhi Capitals later retained him for Rs 8 crore through a Right to Match (RTM) card in the IPL mega auction.According to the Bihar Sports Authority, the ‘Medals Lao, Naukri Pao’ policy provides direct government jobs to athletes who win medals in national and international competitions. Under the scheme, medal-winning athletes can be appointed to posts such as deputy inspector general of police, sub-inspector and Panchayati Raj officer without appearing for regular competitive examinations.Sharing photos from the event, Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary said the state government remains committed to identifying sports talent, improving sports infrastructure and providing opportunities to athletes to succeed while bringing honor to Bihar and India.
