If India’s batting laid the foundation, debutant Kranti Gaud delivered a decisive performance with the ball.
The young seamer took stunning figures of 5/37, dismantling England’s batting line-up and ensuring India had complete control of the Test. Her disciplined lines, off-the-ground movement and ability to bat with the new ball make her India’s biggest weapon heading into England’s second innings.
If India set an ambitious target, Gold will again be entrusted with providing an early breakthrough.
England looking for inspiration
England faced a tough battle after scoring just 170 in the first innings. Barring a batting half-century from Amy Jones, the hosts failed to forge a meaningful partnership against India’s relentless attack.
