While addressing the press and media, Ganesh K Babu revealed a lot of interesting information about his collaboration with late filmmaker K Bhagyaraj. According to Nakkheeran, “On the first day of filming for Dada, he kept asking if there was any dialogue because there was none. The next scene has a long dialogue for him. Before I could explain it, he himself had written a completely different version. I initially told him not to use it, but he did it anyway. By the end of the shoot, he convinced me that his version was better. That’s when I realized how stupid I was. “Ganesh K. Babu added, “Since then, I have never brought him a live document. He has written and prepared his own version. He wrote most of the dialogues in ‘Dada’ himself, and he followed the same approach in ‘Dark’.”

Ganesh K Babu recalls days with late director

Ganesh K Babu also spoke about the shock of Bhagyaraj’s sudden death and the impact the loss had on him personally. “His death was completely unexpected. The energy he had when he entered the film industry stayed with him until the end,” he said. Recalling the day Bhagyaraj passed away, the director shared, “I was telling a story to someone that day. I’ve told this story to many people before, but I’ve never told it as beautifully as I did that day. It honestly felt like he was always there for me. I believe he will continue to be with us through the darkness. This film is our tribute to him.

A simple act became their last memory

Sharing his last personal memory, Ganesh K Babu revealed that he wanted to give a small gift to Bhagyaraj on the last day of the shoot of “Dark”. “He casually mentioned that his slippers were torn, and I immediately bought him a new pair and helped him put them on myself. That was the last time I saw him,” he said with emotion. Dark is one of Bhagyaraj’s last performances and is slated to release on July 3. The film has acquired even more emotional significance after the veteran’s death and the team hopes audiences will celebrate his remarkable contribution to Tamil cinema through his final appearance on screen.
