While attending this special event, he opened up a chapter of his childhood, where he formed a bond with the legendary actress long before he entered the entertainment industry.Speaking to the media at the event, Bhosal revealed that his relationship with Hema Malini started in an unexpected way. Years before becoming a playback singer and stage performer, he assisted his father in making hand-painted movie posters and giant cinema banners in Mumbai.Reminiscing about those formative years, Sudesh Bhosale revealed that he worked with his father for many years drawing promotional material for the film. He told the media, “People may not know that before I started acting on stage, I used to draw movie posters with my father from 1974 to 1982.” According to Sudesh Bhosale, his father was involved in making posters for many movies starring Hema Malini. Making these banners gave him the opportunity to learn the craft at an early age, while developing a deep admiration for the actress. He describes the experience as an important stepping stone in his artistic career, long before music became his career.
Drawing posters for Hema Malini’s films
The singer remembers the first major banner he painted as a teenager. Looking back, he recalls the excitement of promoting a film starring one of Bollywood’s biggest stars. “My first poster was in 1974 when I was just 14 years old. It was for ‘Prem Nagar’. All these banners were painted by me myself,” he shared. He further recalled that his father had created promotional artwork for several of Hema Malini’s films, including “Lal Patthar”, “Sharafat Toa” and “Bhai Hoisa”. These early experiences shaped his creative instincts.

Sudesh Bhosale says life came full circle when he finally met Hema Malini and even got a chance to act with her. Reflecting on a particularly memorable moment, he said: “It was pure coincidence that my first trip abroad was to the Fiji Islands with Hemaji in 1984.” The singer described the experience as a special milestone. What started out as drawing posters eventually turned into performing on the same stage with actresses in front of foreign audiences. He said the journey remains one of the most rewarding experiences of his life and career.
