Some of the biggest names in cricket have been praising Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and the latest endorsement comes from the legendary former West Indies captain Clive Lloydwho believes the teenage sensation possesses the qualities needed for a bright future at the highest level.Lloyd is one of the most revered figures in cricket history and the man who led the West Indies to World Cup titles in 1975 and 1979. The 15-year-old Indian batsman was recently asked how he dealt with the terrifying pace attack that dominated world cricket in his era.The 81-year-old leads a team that boasts some of the most formidable fast bowlers in the game, including Michael Holding, Joel Garner, Andy Roberts and Colin Croft. Thinking back on the hypothetical matchup between Soriyavanshi and those legendary quickies, Lloyd feels it would be a good fight.“Well, he will have a good test (laughs), we will test his character, his technique and so on. He has good eyesight. He is a good striker. Yeah, so it will be a good test for him and a good test for our bowlers. The thing about our bowlers, why it is so difficult to decipher what they are doing because none of them are doing anything different,” he said in the interview.While praising the youngster’s talent, Lloyd also offered an important piece of advice regarding his development. The former West Indies great feels that Suryavanshi’s natural style should be retained during his promotion and not changed.“I think this guy has a lot of ability and I believe if he continues to play the way he’s playing now and they don’t try to change his style of play, I think we’re going to be looking at this young man for a long time,” he added.Lloyd’s comments come shortly after another outstanding performance from the teenager. Sooryavanshi changed the record books with a stunning innings while playing for India A in the Tri-series final in Dambulla on Sunday.The left-hander smashed the fastest 50 in the history of Class A cricket in just 11 deliveries. He looked to have scored an equally remarkable century and matched the fastest centuries in Category A cricket, but his innings lasted just 94 off just 29 balls. Had he scored six runs off the last delivery he faced, he would have reached the landmark.After a good run in Sri Lanka, Sooryavanshi will travel to Ireland later this month to take part in India’s upcoming two-match T20I series. The teenager’s meteoric rise continues to gather momentum as he is widely expected to make his international debut during the tour, and Lloyd’s vote of confidence will only add to the growing excitement for one of cricket’s most talked-about young talents.
