Every school in Delhi will conduct ‘Good Touch and Bad Touch’ awareness sessions this month as part of city-wide drive to enhance child safety and awareness under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.Announcing the initiative on Thursday, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the month-long POCSO awareness month aims to make child protection measures a permanent part of the school system.“POCSO Awareness Month in Delhi is more than just an awareness campaign. This July, every school in Delhi will conduct good touch and bad touch awareness classes, implement mandatory child safety protocols and submit compliance reports within 15 days,” Gupta said, according to PTI.

The campaign will demand the establishment of child protection committees in all 5,633 schools in the capital by the end of July. Teachers and school staff will also receive training on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.According to an official statement cited by PTI, the student safety checklist has been prepared based on the guidelines issued by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) and India’s National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR). POCSO Act It is being implemented in all schools.The list covers 1,077 Delhi government schools, 198 government-aided schools, 2,612 Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and Delhi Cantonment Board schools, and 1,746 private schools.
Police, counselors and angarwadi support movement
Gupta said the campaign will have support from parents, teachers, Delhi Police, district magistrates and anganwadi workers.Educational and Vocational Guidance Counselors (EVGCs) will run sessions on safe and unsafe touching, gender sensitivity and personal boundaries, and students will also receive self-defence training. According to a PTI report, the Ministry of Women and Child Development will organize awareness drives at anganwadi-cum-palna centers and child care institutions.
