New Delhi: Days after retiring from international cricket, Ben Stokes Shows he still has a lot left in the tank. In his first game as a former England cricketer, Stokes scored an unbeaten 108 to lead Durham to a five-wicket victory over Derby County in the Derby County One-Day Cup.The century came as Stokes’ first 50-plus match for Durham in 12 years. He also threw nine economy rounds before winning the tournament, with final odds of 0/38.
Stokes battles cramps
Chasing 257, Durham were in trouble at 98/3 before Stokes anchored the innings with an unbeaten 108 off 123 balls. His knock included 10 fours and 3 sixes as Durham reached 257/5 in 49.1 overs, winning by 5 balls.Although Stokes battled cramps for much of the match, he held on until the end to complete his century and take Durham home.Casey Aldridge scored 23 points to remain undefeated, Will Rhodes scored 45 points, and Colin Ackerman scored 28 points.Earlier, Derby County had posted 256/9 in 50 overs. Martin Andersson scored the highest score with 112 points and Brooke Guest scored 48 points. Luke Robinson was Durham’s best bowler with figures of 3/44.

Days before his century, Stokes announced his retirement from international cricket after England’s third Test against New Zealand. Shortly after, he shared a touching message on X thanking everyone who had been a part of his journey.“It’s been a crazy 15 years. From the highest highs to the lowest lows (on and off the field), everything has been thrown at it. My time is up and no one can make that decision but me. But at the same time, I just want to say that I love every England fan and every cricket fan who has supported me over the years,” Stokes wrote.He also thanked his teammates and everyone who has supported him throughout his career.“I love every single person I’ve ever walked onto the pitch with for England.
