“Meet the new faces of Gotham,” DC Films has released the trailer for the highly anticipated new horror thriller Clayface , starring Tom Rhys Harris.In the film, he will play the shape-shifting villain Clayface, whose real name is Matt Hagen. He started out as a struggling actor with a disfigured face, then underwent a scientific transformation that completely turned his body into clay.The news comes ahead of this week’s Comic-Con, where the James Watkins-directed film is expected to reveal more merchandise.The film about the famed Batman villain will reportedly slot in between DC Studios’ two Matt Reeves-helmed Batman films – 2022’s The Batman and 2028’s The Batman Part II , both starring Matt Reeves Rob Pattinson As the Caped Crusader. Previously, the HBO Max series “Penguins” set in the same universe has been successfully launched.

The film follows “Matt Hagen’s meteoric rise from Gotham street kid to Hollywood leading man, only to have his career tragically come to an abrupt end when the actions of a local crime boss left him severely disfigured.” Abandoned by his team and left with nothing, Matt seeks a state-of-the-art treatment that miraculously returns him to his old self… but also unexpectedly affects his grip on reality, setting him on a destructive, all-out path of revenge. ” according to the synopsis.

James Gunn introduces Tom Rhys Harries as Clayface
The casting of Tom Rhys Harris was announced by DC Studios head James Gunn, who shared on social media: “After a long and incredibly exhaustive search, we finally found our DCU Clayface in @tomrhysharries. Matt Reeves and I are blown away by this guy and can’t wait for you to see the movie, directed by James Watkins and written by Mike Flanagan.”

Clayface first appeared in 1940’s Detective Comics, and several people later used the moniker to fight Batman in countless comics and several animated shows. He has appeared in the live-action TV shows Gotham, Pennyworth, and Birds of Prey, as well as animated shows such as Harley Quinn, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Young Justice, and Batman: The Caped Crusader.
