According to The Hollywood Reporter, “The Odyssey” will have its world premiere in London on July 6, after which the studio will begin hosting screenings specifically for film critics. The decision marks a departure from industry practice, in which studios invite fan site bloggers and social media influencers to advance screenings and share early reactions online.

Influencer’s early comments spark backlash

Most recently, early influencer reactions to Warner Bros.’ Supergirl. The image drew criticism online after the vast majority of positive posts were viewed with suspicion. The film later received mixed reviews from critics, with a score of only 59% on Rotten Tomatoes. The studio also faced backlash for early influencer comments on Disclosure Day.The move comes amid a backlash on social media over the film’s unconventional casting, story, dialogue and costumes. Since the trailer was released, netizens have been vocal in their opposition to the film’s casting choices and modernized dialogue of the ancient Greek epic.
