After making a comeback with OTT courtroom drama Ikka, the actor will next star in the much-anticipated Partition-era film from Aamir Khan work. On July 13, the film studio officially announced that the film will be released in theaters on August 14, 2026. This day coincides with the eve of India’s Independence Day, and the storyline has deep emotional significance.Along with the announcement, the team also released a striking trailer and new poster, giving audiences a glimpse into the emotional and historical context of the film.The newly released trailer symbolically captures the pain and resilience associated with the Partition of India and Pakistan in 1947. It features a statue of Lord Krishna illuminated by luminous diyas, contrasting with images representing the division of India and Pakistan. Sharing the poster on social media, the makers wrote, “His greatest battle was not for survival but for humanity. According to reports, “Batwara 1947” is inspired by Asghar Wajahat’s critically acclaimed drama “Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya E Nai”. The story revolves around a Muslim family who are allotted a house after Partition, only to discover that the elderly Hindu homeowner still lives there and refuses to move out, setting the stage for an emotional conflict.The project was initially named “Lahore 1947” and later renamed “Batwara 1947”.directed by Rajkumar Santoshthe film has stars including Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal and Abhimanyu Singh. The film is produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit, with music composed by AR Rahman and lyrics by Javed Akhtar.
