Calcutta High Court has directed police to arrest Delhi Capitals cricketer Abishek Porel rape case and seized his electronic devices to prevent the circulation of sensitive information allegedly related to the complainant. The court also asked the police to continue efforts to trace and arrest him as he has not yet been arrested, The Indian Express reported.Justice Saugata Bhattacharyya, in an order issued on July 14, said the police should continue efforts to arrest the accused and recover electronic devices that may contain material relevant to the case.The order states, “It was disclosed in the communication dated July 6, 2026, that a pen drive/storage device was seized from the petitioner…in which certain materials were believed to be stored…It appears that the accused…needs to be arrested for confiscation of the electronic device carried with him so that the data stored therein cannot be shared with others… “The communication of 6 July 2026 disclosed the steps taken by the relevant police authorities to arrest…[the accused] But the fact remains…[they] No arrests have been made. Relevant police authorities are directed to continue efforts to arrest accused Nos. 6 and 7 [accused] and seize the device so that the objectionable data stored therein cannot be disseminated further. “Last month, the Mogla police station registered an FIR. The complainant accused Borrell of entering into a physical relationship with her with the promise of marriage, recording their intimate moments and then threatening her. The case also includes charges of criminal intimidation and other crimes.The two first came into contact in 2023 before meeting in person, according to the complaint. The woman alleged that Porel forcibly entered into a physical relationship with her and then continued to threaten her over the phone, on a co-worker’s Instagram account and on another mobile phone number. The allegations have not been proven in court and the investigation is ongoing.
