Speaking to India Today, H Vinoth said that the story of the film is about democracy, unity and service to the people. “There is direct politics in it, but it is not directed at or criticizing anyone. It is politics that talks about unity and service to the people,” he said.He also explained the title, saying: “It’s not a general term. This is a movie about democracy, so we chose this title. The first poster itself mentioned “Torchbearers of Democracy”. “Talking about Vijay’s hand-chopping action in the trailer, he said, “The script is necessary, it’s there. You watch the film and if you think it’s not relevant, I will answer.”
