In another incident, Paredes appeared to choke Spanish defender Eric Garcia.As Spanish midfielder Rodri ran to celebrate with his teammates, Nahuel Molina also appeared to punch him.Veteran defender Nicolas Otamendi got into a heated argument with Rodri over comments reportedly made by Spain defender Aymeric Laporte before the final. What penalties will Argentinian players face?
Under Article 14 of FIFA’s disciplinary code, players found guilty of violent conduct face a minimum three-match ban.The same minimum prohibition also applies to conduct involving: attacking, elbowing, punching, kicking, biting, spitting, hitting an opponent or anyone other than a match official. Any ban will apply the next time Argentina competes in an official match.In addition to player bans, the Argentine Football Association (AFA) could also face disciplinary action if FIFA determines that the national team has acted inappropriately. Players and officials may also be fined, while FIFA can impose additional sanctions if necessary.
