The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has officially announced the dates for the 72nd General Comprehensive (Preliminary) Competitive Examination 2026. The recruitment exam will be conducted on July 26, 2026.According to an official notification issued by the board, the preliminary examination will be held from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at various examination centers located in different districts of Bihar. Candidates are eagerly waiting for their admit cards and exam-related instructions, which are likely to be released by the board soon.The examination schedule has been announced by an official notification issued by the Director of Examinations, BPSC, Patna.While the board has confirmed the exam dates and times, it is yet to release the exam centres, reporting instructions and hall tickets for the districts. These details are expected to be announced in the coming days.

With less than three weeks left for the exam, the board is expected to launch the admit card download link soon. The admission ticket will contain important information including the candidate’s exam centre, check-in time, roll number and instructions to follow on exam day.Once the admit card is released, applicants should carefully verify all the details mentioned on the admit card and report any discrepancies to the committee immediately.

BPSC’s biggest recruitment drive sets backdrop

The announcement of the 72nd Joint Preliminary Examination comes soon after BPSC concluded its largest-ever recruitment process for the Joint Competitive Examination.The commission announced the final results of the 70th Comprehensive Competitive Examination on June 19, recommending a record 2,027 candidates to serve in state government offices. This is the highest number of selections made by the commission in any national service examination since independence.Topping the merit list is Shraddha Pandey uttar pradeshShashank Pandey and Aksh Vijoy finished second and third respectively. There are 4 women in the top 10 and 45 in the top 100 female candidates.

Record participation in the previous recruitment cycle

The 70th BPSC recruitment drive attracted enthusiastic participation from aspirants across the state. Nearly 483,000 candidates submitted their exam applications online.The initial review was conducted on December 13, 2024 at 911 centers in 37 districts. However, following reports of irregularities at the Bapu exam center in Patna, the exams at the center were canceled and will be conducted again on January 4, 2025, at 22 centers in the city. A total of 3,28,990 candidates appeared for the preliminary examination.The commission has notified 2,027 vacancies, including 2,009 posts in 27 state government departments, 12 Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) posts and 6 Financial Administrative Officer posts.
