Hyundai Motor India today announced the launch of the Hyundai Creta under the BaaS (Battery-As-A-Service) programme. This brings down the starting price of the EV SUV to Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Under the battery-as-a-service model, rental costs start at Rs 3.9 per kilometer, which helps reduce the initial cost of procurement. For buyers who prefer outright ownership, the Creta Electric is available at a starting price of Rs 18.03 lakh (ex-showroom).Along with announcing the BaaS structure, Hyundai has also added an integrated side step on select trims, aimed at improving ease of access. The EV also comes with a 7.4 kW AC wall charger. Previously, buyers of the higher specification variants were offered an 11 kW AC wall charger. Regardless of the chosen variant, every Creta Electric is still equipped with a built-in charging system as standard.

Creta Electric is offered in seven variants and with two battery options – 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh. The 42kWh battery has a claimed range of 420km, and the larger 51.4kWh unit delivers 510km. The battery pack comes paired with a single electric motor, producing 135 hp with the smaller 51.4 kWh battery pack and 171 hp with the larger 51.4 kWh battery pack. Using a DC fast charger, the EV can be charged from 10% to 80% in 58 minutes. The long-range variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds. It also has three operating modes – Eco, Normal and Sport. In terms of features, the Creta EV gets two 10.25-inch screens – one for infotainment and one for the dashboard, and will also get a new steering wheel as seen on the Kona sold abroad. Other features include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and electric seats, automatic climate control, vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology, 360-degree camera, digital key and ADAS package. The Creta EV also comes with Level 2 ADAS, which offers features like lane keep assist, forward collision warning, blind spot collision warning and smart cruise control with stop and go function.
