national award winning actor Vikrant Messi Opened up about the prejudice he faced when he moved from television to Bollywood. Reminiscing about his early film career, the “12 Down” star revealed that many people doubted his abilities simply because he came from the television world. Looking back on his two-decade journey, Vikrant also spoke about breaking stereotypes, the lasting impact of ‘Balika Vadhu’ and his gratitude towards the audience for their unwavering support.In an interview with IANS, the actor recalled how some people questioned his abilities because of his television background. “When I moved from TV to movies, a lot of people used to say, ‘He’s a TV actor, what does he do? He doesn’t know how to work,'” Massey said.Vikrant also shared his views on judging people based on their professional or socio-economic background. In the actor’s view, a person’s ability is determined by talent and hard work, not where he comes from.Messi said: “It’s not just television, I don’t think if you come from any socioeconomic background, it doesn’t determine whether you are capable or not. You are capable or not based on your ability. So I don’t believe at all where you come from, what your background is.”The actor emphasized that he never believed labels or backgrounds should define an individual’s potential.
Vikrant Messi’s 20-Year Journey
Looking back on his career, Vikrant expressed his gratitude to the audience for their continued support. He said he feels lucky that audiences continue to watch both his old projects and his more recent work after more than two decades in the industry.Sharing his thoughts, Vikrant said, “I think I have been lucky in my journey. It has been 20-22 years. Sometimes we sit at home and talk about these years. I am filled with gratitude. I am really grateful that even after so many years, people still find time to watch my old work. They pay money to see what I am doing. I am really grateful.”The actor added that this appreciation motivates him to continue working with sincerity.Talking about what keeps him going, he said: “It’s the only thing that gives you the courage to go out and give back to people through your story or through whatever you do within your limited capacity.”
“Balika Vadhu” still holds a special place
Vikrant also recalled the enduring popularity of Balika Vadhu, saying that even after nearly two decades, people still recognize him for his performances. The actor pointed out that many viewers still rewatch the show online, which he believes is very meaningful.Over the years, Vikrant has successfully transitioned from television to films and has earned appreciation for his performances in films such as Gangi, 12, Sector 36 and the Hasin Dilruba series. He recently won National Award For his performance in “The 12th Fall”.
“Musafir Cafe” will be released soon
On the professional front, Vikrant will next be seen in the romantic drama Musafir Cafe, directed by Ruchir Arun and created and written by Sharanya Rajgopal. “Musafir Cafe” is expected to premiere on OTT on July 24.
