New Delhi: Neeraj ChopraIndia coach Javeer Chaudhry’s name is not included in the final list of the Indian team for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Glasgow as the team has received administrative and financial approval from the Sports Ministry, TOI has learnt. The omission means Chopra is likely to compete in the Olympics, scheduled for July 23 to August 2, without a coach. If Chaudhry travels, he will do so in a personal capacity at Chopra’s expense and stay out of a designated team hotel.Chopra reunited with his childhood coach Chaudhry in January 2026 after ending his partnership with world record holder Jan Zelezny. Chopra’s long-time physiotherapist Ishaan Marwaha has been included in the government-approved team. The 42-member track and field team includes 32 athletes, eight coaches and support staff, and two interim team officials (ETOs). Chopra was initially unsure about competing in the Olympics due to injury concerns. Also omitted from the approved list is long jumper M Sreeshankar’s coach and father S Murali, a former international triple jumper who has coached the national record holder throughout his career. If Mulally travels to Glasgow, he will do so privately and at his own expense. On the boxing front, the Indian Boxing Ministry approved the inclusion of Jadumani Singh in the men’s 55kg category after initially seeking clarification from the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) on his inclusion in the CWG and Asian Games.Jadumani won the trials in Patiala and will now travel with the team. Meanwhile, men’s 70kg boxer Sumit Kundu is awaiting the visa of his coach Ved Prakash and has sought assistance from the British High Commission. The ministry approved a 191-member contingent, which includes 126 athletes (78 men and 48 women), 56 team officials/support staff/managers and 9 ETOs, besides 14 IOA contingent staff led by Chief of Mission Rohit Rajpal. The nine ETOs will stay outside the designated team hotel, and the accommodation costs will be borne by the IOA.
