According to a Hindustan Times report, the CBFC directed manufacturers to make 12 major modifications before granting certification. The changes reportedly include muting or modifying all references to TVK (Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam), deleting scenes with the Indian flag, changing dialogues involving Dr BR Ambedkar, and changing book covers that feature his image. Religious references like ‘Bhagavathan’, ‘Ranganatha’ar’ and ‘OM’ are also muted in certain scenes. Shortly after the details surfaced online, fans reacted strongly. One user wrote: “At least the movie is finally out. That’s all that matters now.” Another commented: “We’ve been waiting for months. A few cuts won’t stop us from watching Vijay’s final film.”

The report further states that the CBFC has also suppressed conversations about: saddam husseinof execution and another sentence translated as “I am having a secret celebration in India.” The visual with the district collector’s office emblem was removed, while another objectionable dialogue was completely muted. According to reports, the visual effects of burning children were replaced and the name “Sheila Rani” was changed where it appears in the film. Meanwhile, fans continue to express their excitement despite the edits. “The reduction in scrutiny does not diminish our excitement. “We just want to experience ‘Jana Nayagan’ on the big screen,” one fan wrote, while another posted, “After so many hurdles, July 24th can’t come soon enough.” Overall, the changes reportedly amount to about 20 seconds of editing and 10 seconds of replacement, while the runtime is still 183 minutes and 11 seconds.

“Jana Nayagan” was expected to release during the Pongal season earlier this year, but the certification process was delayed due to objections raised over certain scenes. The producers later sought permission from the courts and the film faced another setback when a high-definition print leaked online ahead of its release. Despite the difficulties, the film was eventually granted a censorship certificate, paving the way for its theatrical premiere. The political action film starring Vijay, Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Prakash Raj and Mamitha Baiju is expected to release on July 24 and fans are eagerly counting down the days for what is being billed as Vijay’s farewell film.
