The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has reiterated its commitment to providing top security for India’s scheduled white-ball tour in September and is ready to further strengthen its arrangements if required.BCB Safety Committee Chairman Sayeed Ibrahim Ahmed on Tuesday said the board will leave no stone unturned to ensure the safety of the visiting Indian team. Although with Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not started yet and he expressed confidence that the tour will go ahead as planned.This follows BCB’s recent expression of interest (EOI) for its 2026 and 2027 home international events, specifically the 2026 tour of India, signaling growing optimism that the series will go ahead despite previous uncertainty. India’s absence from the T20Is during India’s August tour of Sri Lanka has also heightened expectations that the Bangladesh tour will still go ahead as scheduled.
BCB is committed to the highest safety standards
Relations between India and Bangladesh have experienced tensions of late, leading to concerns over a bilateral series. Security concerns had been a major talking point earlier when the interim government led by Mohammad Yunus withdrew Bangladesh from participating in the last T20 World Cup in India, citing security concerns.However, Ibrahim, the son of Bangladesh Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, stressed that security remains the BCB’s top priority.“Safety is always a concern for every touring party, especially the major cricketing nations. We have not officially started communicating with them (BCCI) yet. We hope that if the tour goes ahead as planned, there will not be any complaints,” Ibrahim told reporters in Dhaka.“We always strive to organize events in a controlled environment and ensure the highest safety standards. We will continue to do so.”He added that safety levels will be reviewed based on prevailing conditions during the series.“It will be on a case-by-case basis and we will increase security if necessary,” he said.
Formal discussions with BCCI have not yet begun
Ibrahim also confirmed that discussions with the BCCI are still at an early stage.“There is no such positive news yet, we are still working out the details of the tour. We are trying to establish communication through formal channels because the tour is coming soon,” he added.
