Before becoming one of Hindi cinema’s biggest stars and a fashion icon in the 1970s, Zeenat Aman Imagined a very different future for myself. Despite being the daughter of a famous screenwriter Amanullah KhanZeenat, best known for writing Mughal-e-Azam, said she neither grew up on Hindi films nor aspired to become an actress. Instead, she hopes to continue her education and pursue an academic career, possibly abroad. However, success in modeling and beauty pageants unexpectedly paved the way for movies, changing the course of her life before she could complete her graduation.Zeenat reflected on her upbringing and explained that her father’s film legacy had little impact on her early years as she was raised by her mother after her parents separated.“It is true that my father was a prolific writer and excelled in films. However, I did not live with my father. My parents separated when I was two years old and I was raised by my mother. Of course, I loved him and missed him, but the movies did not have much of an impact. It was not until much later, as an adult, that I realized the quality of his work,” she told The Conversation. The veteran actor admits that joining the film industry was never part of her original plan and she always hoped she could further her studies. “I’m not looking forward to films. I’m not even sure if I’ll live in India or join the film industry. It’s just luck. The modeling world is just a step away and I really believe I have a future in academia. I’m looking forward to furthering my studies. This is a very temporary thing. “She also revealed how disconnected she was from Hindi films despite her family background. “I have no exposure to Hindi films. Even though my father was a writer, I had no idea about Hindi films.
