priyadarshanHe, who recently parted ways with Hera Pheri 3, now reveals details of his next film Akshay Kumar. This will be the pair’s ninth collaboration, this time on the Tips-backed comedy thriller, with filming scheduled to begin before the end of the year.
Priyadarshan quits Hera Pheri 3
Hera Pheri 3 was initially planned, but the National Award-winning filmmaker recently confirmed that he is no longer directing the film, opening the door for new projects. According to Mid-day, the story has been written by Priyadarshan and it is entertaining and exciting. The film will be released by the end of the year, most likely in December. Akshay and he are excited about this project because although he has tried comedies and thrillers in the past, he feels this is in a genre that he has never tried before. He will develop the script along with Rohan Shankar, who also worked on Bhooth Bangla.
Priyadarshan’s other projects delayed
It was earlier reported that Priyadarshan will shoot for a feature film starring Pankaj Tripathi in the rest of 2026 and will also shoot for a Mohanlal film next. However, those plans have now changed, as both projects have been postponed to next year. According to reports, Mohanlal’s film will be released in Kerala in October. But its script and that of the Pankaj Tripathi starrer are being reworked.
Akshay Kumar’s recent works
On the professional front, Akshay Kumar was recently seen in Welcome to the Jungle, directed by Ahmed Khan and produced by Feroze A. Nadiadwala. The cast of the film includes Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Arshad Warsi, Tashar KapoorShreyas Talpade, Sanjay Dutt, Jacqueline Fernandez, Disha PataniRaveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Kiku Sharda, Krushna Abhishek, Daler Mehndi, Farida Jalal, Kiran Kumar, etc. The film was released on June 22 and has received unanimous praise from critics and audiences since its release.
