Director lists six major demands to the government
Seenu Ramasamy began his appeal by writing, “I would like to make six important requests to the government led by Hon’ble the Chief Minister Joseph VijHis first demand was to set up a government-run theater on the KSFDC model of Kerala. “It is often difficult for small-budget films with exciting stories to enter theaters. Government theaters can be a lifeline for such films,” he said. He also called for film appreciation courses to be introduced in schools and universities, adding that “young people should learn to understand cinema as an art form and not just entertainment.”“
Call for global film conference and streamlined Photography permission
The director further stated, tamil nadu Hosting the World Cinema Conference, which is similar to the World Tamil Conference, it said it would create opportunities for collaboration between Tamil filmmakers and international creators. He also demanded the introduction of a single-window online approval system for film shooting at heritage and cultural sites. “The online permitting process can reduce unnecessary delays, remove bureaucratic hurdles and eliminate opportunities for bribery,” he said. Additionally, Seenu Ramasamy called on the government to provide dedicated grants for independent films, similar to schemes in places like London and Maharashtra, to encourage filmmakers without stars to back their projects.
Seenu Ramasamy seeks faster measures for artists’ welfare
Seenu Ramasamy concluded his speech by urging the government to expedite the long-pending housing projects announced for Directors Guild members and financially strapped artistes. “The promised homes should reach the deserving beneficiaries immediately,” he wrote. Expressing optimism about the new government, the filmmaker added: “I am confident that this government will not only eliminate corruption but also bring about policy reforms to revitalize the arts and cinema.Seenu Ramasamy’s proposals have sparked widespread debate among members of the film industry, with many hoping they will be seriously considered in the coming months.
